Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Strattanville, PA home to the best and fastest lawn tractor drag races in the nation. Strattanville is home to many things but it is the wheels up, shockingly fast lawn equipment that really put this place on the map. Like Brownsburg, Indiana where most of the top tier NHRA teams have moved, Strattanville is dotted with race shops, high performance tractor tuning facilities, and top notch fabricators. Of course all of those places are disguised as home garages but that’s all part of the game. Obviously we’re having some fun here but the reality is that when we pressed play on this video we were expecting to see a Simplicity popping a wheelie and then chugging along. Instead, our eves bugged out when we heard these things wind up and rocket down a track that looks to be about 150ft or so in length.
We don’t have any specifics on the mechanicals of these bikes but it sure sounds like they have motorcycle engines and transmissions in them. The high pitches screams they emit, the several gears they knock through, and the big league power they possess all point to motorcycle stuff and perhaps hot rodded motorcycle stuff at that.
What we like best about this pair, outside of their blinding speed is the difference in chassis setup. On the left we have what seems to be a (for lack of a better term) “tube chassis” tractor and on the right we have a (stay with us here) old school back half looking piece. Admittedly the tractor on the left looks more racy but the show happens on the right side of the strip. When that dude lets the clutch out, the big blue tractor gets up on the rear tires and GOES.
Know anyone who races one of these? We want to know more (and we really want to drive one!)
That’s insane.
They need leathers and boots. Jeans ain’t gonna cut it when it goes bad.
