There are still lots of people trying to get home from PRI, snow is actively falling a BangShift eastern world HQ, and the icy grip of Old Man Winter had brought all outdoor hot rodding activity to a standstill in virtually any place north of LA County. It is the same sad state of affairs most of us suffer through every year. We say most of us because there are those in the hot rodding world who have the gusto to fight back. The gusto to raise a middle finger to the milk white sky, and tell the crummy weather where to go and how to get there. Minnesota’s Tony Netzel is one of those guys and his twin turbocharged 1961 Plymouth Belvedere is his mechanical middle finger. This car is awesome.

The unique body style aside, you are looking at a pro street chassis, a twin turbocharged Mopar wedge engine and one of the greatest intake tracts you will ever see. Why? Those turbochargers are feeding the engine its air through a set of vintage Chrysler long ram intake manifolds! That’s right, some of that plumbing under the hood is old school Chrysler factory stuff. No, they are not ideal for maximum horsepower but sometimes creativity and cool trump all. This is one of those times. Ironically, one of the things that the cars with those long runner intakes suffered with was cold start problems and drivability issues in extremely cold weather for obvious reasons. With the air being rammed through them we’re guessing that’s not an issue for our man Tony here.

There’s just something about a massive car sliding sideways, turning perfect donuts, and then driving up the road leaving two steamroller sized tracks up the street in freshly fallen snow that should put a smile on your face.
