X275 Madness: Watch New England’s Joey Mauro Launch His Car To The Moon At Epping

X275 Madness: Watch New England’s Joey Mauro Launch His Car To The Moon At Epping

(Video Credit: Mikel Visual YouTube Channel) – There’s a million reasons that the X275 class is such an awesome and exciting part of the drag racing world these days. The cars look like cars, they are fast as blazes, and every now and again, something crazy happens. In this case it was New England Dragway’s Joey Mauro who was part of the crazy. In this video which was captured by the Mikel Visual YouTube Channel at a recent NE X275 event, you will see Mauro’s car dead hook the tire and head for the moon. While the launch is impressive, it is the landing that will make you wince.

The Mustang gets up on one tire and then bicycles back down to the ground landing very, very hard on the front end. The car is damaged bad enough in the chassis sense that Mauro will be down for a while as repairs are made. You can actually see some of the distortion caused by the landing in a short clip after the run. It basically tried to drive the front suspension up through the hood. Rough stuff but we’re glad that he will be back.

Epping was the site of the NHRA’s first foray into radial tire drag racing with the X275 exhibition that happened earlier this summer. It was a load of fun and the cars were quicker than anyone dreamed on the NHRA track prep. The NEX275 series is a cool deal and runs on a frequent basis at New England Dragway and Lebanon Valley Dragway in New York.

We hope that Mauro is able to get the car out again quickly!
