The Yetti: Watch This Twin-Turbo Ford Lightning Romp And Stomp At The World Cup Finals!

The Ford Lightning was always meant to be a runner of a pickup truck. A shortbed, stepside, supercharged beast of a pickup, it’d rock more than it’s fair share of competitors in streetlight battles and made for a worthy foe time and time again when I squared off against one. But this isn’t a street Lightning…this is an all-out race pickup, lightened, prepared for radial racing, packing a small block Ford that sports twin 88mm turbochargers and a TH400 built to take the punishment. It’s 3,400 pounds of anger that was only finished up at the end of October. The runs you see here, captured by 1320Video at the Haltech World Cup Finals in Maryland, might as well have been it’s shakedown runs, and what a shakedown it was: 7.12@191 in the quarter, 4.59@155 in the eighth, and a target of a 6.99 or better for the start of next year’s season. Watch for this Ford to appear at races, and when it does, pay attention, because it’s on the track to be a monster for next season.
