York US30 Muscle Car Madness 2014 Coverage- Our Final Look At One Of The Summer’s Coolest Events

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Well we have finally gotten to the bottom of Joe Grippo’s deep well of photos from the York US30 Muscle Car Madness show that went down a couple months back during the middle of the summer. This is the final blast of images from the event and it even includes some stuff from the moving out process which is cool because we get to see some really neat cars in natural light. We made no secret that one of our favorite cars in the show was the Pinto of Buddy Ingersoll. Ohio George Montgomery ran a similar Pinto at about the same time Ingersoll did and they were both terrors. This was a 10-second car in the late 1970s and that number one on the window is no mistake. He was the 1977 Modified Eliminator champion in the car you see below which competed in the AA/Modified Compact category.

Like the other galleries we have shown you from the event this one is packed with race cars. You’ll see funny cars, dragsters, and some odd balls in here as well. Our racing schedule will likely preclude Chad or I from being at the 2015 running of the show but we sure hope Joe attends again. It has been great to live through his photos and walk the aisles of the titanic gathering to take in all the history and innovation that the sport of drag racing has seen over the years. Thanks, Joe!

Coolness dripping off this collection. Always a fan of Buddy’s stuff. Different and quick with a LOT of attention to detail. That Buick he ran in pro stock had a full belly-pan with trap doors for servicing. No wonder NHRA (the non-profit ‘for’ racers) banned it. That thing would have been unstoppable and if that breed had been allowed to competed the class would be more diverse and relevant today. An eco-boost six in a mustang running mid-sixes….oh yeah….!!!
