Thanks to BangShifter Chris Chenlo we got tipped to this Craigslist link featuring a car we have shown you on BangShift before. This 1,200p Allison powered 1939 Chevrolet is one of the wildest and most interesting builds we have seen come together over the internet in years. The thing is wild looking and it has to be in order to house the monstrous 1,710ci Allison V12 engine in the nose. WATCH VIDEOS OF THE BUILD HERE
There are 3,000 ways that this thing could be bad and awful and it is not. Tom Carrigan is the guy who built the car and he did not create this thing to be yard art. It is a running, driving machine. Hell, he even applied electronic fuel injection to the engine! The car uses the front end from a GM van to support the weight of the big mill, it has a Torqueflite hanging off the back of the Ally, and it uses a Ford 9″ rear axle to get the power to the ground. While we do not know what it weighs, this car cannot be light!
While we realize that this certainly not a car for everyone, we think it is among the most unique and interesting hot rods ever built. The fact that it is not a hack job that is about ready to fall apart sets it into a class of its own. Carrigan is not shy with the price of the car and frankly he does not have to be. Why? This thing has a limited appeal to collectors and people who want something no one else on Earth has. Unless there’s another 1939 Chevy with an Allison engine hiding in someone’s barn or bunker, this is definitely something that no on on Earth has!
Not for 250K. Cool idea in theory but not execution. Proportions are off. Fit and finish are fair.
Well with Allisons being priced at over $500.000 you can just take the motor out and burn the rest of the Chevy shit its attached to…
Chevy shit is what British cars are made of. Damn right-hand steering wheel fukkas.
I’m not sure where you are buying your Allisons from but they can be had for $25-$50,000,,,, Hate to see anyone over pay for one….
