This 1956 Chevrolet NASCAR Promotional Film Rules – Daytona, Darlington, Dirt, and Asphalt

Now this is awesome! Watch a 1956 Chevrolet NASCAR promotional film that touts the company’s racing success and works hard to drive hime the “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” ethos that drove auto racing in this country for the span of decades. You will see Chevys on the beach at Daytona, on the banks for Darlington, at Gardena Arena, and it isn’t just stock car racing as the Corvette’s early road racing successes are touted here as well.

It is amazing when you look at stock car racing 60 years ago and now, how badly the whole scene is botched up. Between the globule like cars, the weird ass racing rules, and the “enhancements” that the sanctioning body offers to keep the sport “fresh” it is kind of sad. The mere idea of racing virtually bone stock cars these days is so removed from what NASCAR is that we get excited at the prospect. The competition here while it looks quaint is actually about as intense as things have ever gotten based around Detroit manufacturers.

It was only a year after this video was made that the manufacturers decided to institute a racing ban where they all agreed to end factory supported teams. This was a big sham and they were all cheating from day one but it changes the face of racing in this country for a while.

This video is awesome and we think you’ll dig the racing action and the fun shown here.

While I love historic racing, I wouldn’t want to go back to those days. NASCAR, and our Aussie $upercars need to pull their heads out of their @sses and return to a more production based form of racing
