RacingJunk Find: This 1963 Chrysler 300 Has A 440 Six-Pack Swap!

Now this is pretty awesome. The 1960s Chrysler letter cars are all cool in their own way. Designed to be luxury performers for customer who had the bucks and wanted some good old ass-kicking horsepower they were uniquely cool vehicles for their time. This 1963 model would have come out of the box with a 413 in it making somewhere in the neighborhood of 380hp or so. The owner of this car took the 413 out and swapped a .060 over 440 that is topped with the Six-Pack induction package. We’re loving this mod because it is an “easy” swap as the wedge motors basically drop into the same place anyway and the addition of the Six-Pack, while not “factory correct” it is all Mopar and it should be a real kick in the shorts to drive with the extra displacement, horsepower, and torque.

The thing we dig about this is that the interior is in great shape and is stock, the exterior is all stock except for the addition of a hood scoop that we’d ditch pretty quickly, and you can stick your pals in the car and go cruising. This would be a great road trip car and maybe with some gearing it would be a surprising performer on the drag strip. Very heavy, it will never be in Road Runner territory but with some creative hot rodding, it would be fun to shock some more “performance” minded cars either on the street or on the strip.

To us, this thing is a fun package and even better, the price of less than $10,000 is totally positioned to make it a fun and budget friendly driver. Hell, the guy is even throwing in the original 413 with the sale if you want it. 100% BangShift approved.

I’d ditch that scoop and give it a good detail, swap on some meatier tires and a nice set of wheels or maybe steelies painted body color with no caps….I;ve grown quite fond of these recently and would not mind owning this one. The price is pretty fair IMO…man, that’d be a killer cruiser!

Yeah, Id ditch the hood scoop too! What to do instead?? Why not a nascar style cowl fed type air filter set-up? More period correct & definitely more sleeper like!!
