Pro Pontiac: This 1972 Ventura Is The Kind Of Functional Pro Touring Machine We Love! Poncho Power!

Pro Pontiac: This 1972 Ventura Is The Kind Of Functional Pro Touring Machine We Love! Poncho Power!

Call us lame, call us dumb, call us whatever you want but this is the kind of pro touring car that we really love around here. This 1972 Pontiac Ventura still has the rasp and soul of Pontiac with a 455 under the hood, it has a 5-speed stick, cool wheels, the right stance and it can be driven miles and miles. We have nothing against the really hardcore, over the top pro touring stuff but this is a really functional and workable car. Yes, it will get swallowed up by one of those bad ass cars on the autocross but who cares? You can road trip this one and autocross it. That’s a win for us.

We’re loving the fact that it is not a Nova (no disrespect to Novas but variety is the spice of life) and the fact that there is not an LS engine under the hood. Hell, there really is not that much tire under this car, either as compared to the deep end of the pro touring pool these days. What? You don’t NEED 315s or 335s to actually have fun in a car. Huh, you don’t say.

Lastly we love the interior here. Many cars have bizarre looking mashups of new and old stuff inside them. The low back bucket seats have been upgraded to give more back and hip bolstering it appears and that’s cool. The rubber floor mat and lack of a console completes this Ventura perfectly.

Do want.

    Yep cool ride and thankfully a real poncho drivetrain. Gotta call bullshit on the sellers (dealers) description “400 stroked to 455” ? Car Kraft mag? Hmmmmm….

      @oksnake08 – I stroked a 400 for this build to 455 cu.in. (all paperwork included with build) nothing wrong with stroking a 400 block. No disrespect but why the \” ? \” .

    Somebody just called me and told me this car was on Bangshift . My best friend built the car. The car was debuted at the Detroit auto Arama and won An Award in its class. Then it was Road trip to 3500 miles on the power tour. The car was built in a one and a half car garage. You can find him on Instagram at APittari721 AndFollow the build.

    Not an LS+++++
    Car you can drive,show,enjoy and not have to spend you kids collage fund three times to build.
    No offense but anyone who thinks that you can build a car like this for under $35k. GOOD LUCK. I\’ve seen this car in person and pictures don\’t do it justice.
