Public Service Announcement: If You Own A 2007-2014 GM Truck or SUV You’ve Got An Airbag Recall To Take Care Of

(By Tom Lohnes) – Attention owners of 2007-2014 GM trucks and SUVs, your vehicle may be entitled to a recall.

With faulty Takata airbags, every GM Truck and SUV produced between 2007 and 2014 is entitled to a recall replacing the Takata units for better functioning ones ones.

This list of vehicles includes:

Chevrolet: Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, and Suburban, along with the Silverado 1500 and HD pickup trucks

Buick: Encore, Enclave

GMC: Terrain, Acadia, Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra 1500/HD

Cadillac: SRX, Escalade, Escalade ESV

So, quick warning, if you own one of these vehicles, make sure you go down to your local dealership and get that fixed. Takata airbags were very commonly used back in that time period, so even If you have a vehicle by another make that has those, maybe learn to swap them out.

These airbags have had enough issues that the company has decided to put out the recall. If you or any of your family or friends is cruising in one of the above listed vehicles, we’d recommend swinging by the local dealer and getting yourself scheduled for the work. Wearing your seatbelt is important and having all the safety systems working is also really important. Take care of this one.

Make sure there are no pending recalls on any vehicle you own. If you get in an accident it is enough grounds for the insurance to not pay your claim.

How do I know this? Neighbor owns a large insurance agency and her husband is a catastrophic insurance claims manager. Learn all kinds of things from them.
