2017 Hot Rod Hullabaloo Coverage: Our Third Big Gallery From The Show – These Photos Will Warm You Up!

2017 Hot Rod Hullabaloo Coverage: Our Third Big Gallery From The Show – These Photos Will Warm You Up!

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Back again with more Hullabaloo coverage.  Contract St. in Lexington, KY is closed off and most of the businesses have emptied their parking lots to allow Shelby’s Way to host this event.  There are food vendors, swap meet stuff, live music (good music too), and gravity car races.  Any vehicle is welcome, but the nature of the show is mostly traditional hot rods, customs, classics, and muscle cars.  There is no year restriction and don’t forget…..it’s FREE.  On the Friday night prior to the Hullabaloo the World Famous Parkette Drive-in hosts a pre-event cruise.  If you haven’t been to Parkette you owe yourself a trip there at least once.  It’s real deal from the 50s and has been kept up in that style.  We didn’t go because the threat of rain so….no photos from that.

In this collection we will start off with ‘flat fenders rule’.  Know it.  Live it.  Love it.  It’s not common for us to see a suicide-shift Harley and this guy was rocking it.  Our host, Mark Cain, borrowed Matt Cox’s replica ’57 scooter…..and broke it.  Not really.  Matt was able to restart it using the proper procedure after Mark abandoned it.  The copper-orange Ford wagon was beyond immaculate.  Seems to have been featured in a magazine already and comes complete with a built-in amp and paint-matching guitar.  This thing is super smooth.  The plain-jane looking D100 is actually setting on a mid-90s Dakota extended-cab.  They have plans to upgrade the drivetrain, but I’d leave it as-is.  It’s a good look.

Still more photos coming so check back in soon.

Enjoy.
