(Photos and words by Doug Gregory) – Rain, rain, and more Rain. However, there are periods between the rain sessions where it’s not actual precipitation and is instead simple 90%+ humidity. I stay out of the rain to protect my non-waterproof camera and because I am prone to melting when I get wet. Sugar don’t float.
The 2018 Hot Rod Hullabaloo was another great event. This happening is designed to promote suicide prevention awareness, fellowship, and community which are the aim of the non-profit, Shelby’s Way. Contract St. in Lexington, KY is blocked off and despite the threat of rain and actual rain the place filled up and most stayed through the near two hour opening of the skies. The first two galleries of this event cover the first period of dry following some very early morning showers.
We really like to capture cars coming into an event because we think cars look their best doing their intended purpose – moving.
Lots of variety in this collection. The show leans towards the traditional stuff and really caters to it, but everyone and everything is welcome.
A few highlights:
Triple black, 428 tri-power, wide-8 wheeled Catalina convertible. Yes.
Dig the B-body parked in front of the Keenland Concours d’Elegance offices. That’d be a great platform to showcase.
Two VW bugs because someone told me ‘no one’ shows enough of them.
Garden pulling tractors. Or is it garden tractors for pulling. I don’t know, but they’re cool.
Enjoy and come back for more of the Hullabaloo.
