(By David Whealon) – We’re back with more rip-roaring David Whealon photos from Virginia International Raceway and the jam packed IMSA weekend he attended a little while ago. We showed you cool prototype action last week and we’re here to show you some more. The interesting thing about prototype racing is how it is finally evolving to be more globally aligned. There’s finally been a class created where IMSA prototypes can go and run the 24 Hours of Le Mans which is great news and has brought in more manufacturer interest knowing that the cars can actually be globally raced.

Sure, they may not look wholly different on the outside but the reality is that there are lots of different engines and tech being used beneath the skin and the action is usually super, super tight. You are going to see some really tight racing in these frames and David snapped ’em all.
