Sleek and Sexy Speed: The Upcoming Ferrari 296 GTB Makes 800hp and Recaptures Ferrari Design

(By Tom Lohnes) – Ferrari, possibly the most legendary and well-known car company ever, has lost their way in the past few years. Sure, they’ve still been making awesome supercars, but they lost a bit of the Italian charm that usually makes up for all their flaws. Well, the Roma GT car started to put them back on track, and the all-new 296 GTB puts them right where they used to be.

First off, this thing is absolutely stunning. Never before have I looked at a Ferrari and actually wanted one, but this changes things. The clean, swoopy lines combined with the open, aero-focused front and rear ends all work so well together. The interior design is the same way: Clean and simple, with lots of modern tech sprinkled in.

So, what does the name mean? Well 296 actually stands for something, which is rare nowadays. 296 means a 2.9-liter 6-cylinder is mounted right in the middle of the car. GTB just stands for grand touring Berlinetta, which it has always stood for.

Wait…, a 6-cylinder? Yep, a very powerful one too. A 2.9-liter (actually 3-liter) Twin-turbocharged V6 sits under the mid-mounted hood, and that is paired with two electric motors to make a whopping 818 horses, which is quite a bit more than the 710 in the F8 Tributo it replaces.

So, what do you think about the 296 GTB? I’m excited to see these driving around, because this is definitely the most beautiful Ferrari made in the past 10 years.
