The Equalizer: AC Schnitzer Hot Rods An 8-Series BMW For The German Police On The Autobahn

(By Tom Lohnes) – AC Schnitzer has long been indirectly tuning BMWs to outrun whatever the German police force has. This time around however, they’ve teamed up with the cops and these guys gave them a tuned BMW 8-series for Autobahn patrol.

Using a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, you are right to be scared about breaking the rules. The standard 840i makes 382 horsepower, which is quite respectable, but respectable isn’t enough. ACS went with the hopped-up M850i, which is the sweet spot between the comfy 840i and the supercar-quick M8. With 523 stock horsepower, ACS really didn’t have a lot to do, but they did bump power to 612, which is way more than respectable. The standard 8-speed automatic is unchanged, as well as the AWD system, which will send the stock car to 60 in as little as 3.4 seconds. Top speed has been raised to 209, which is faster than most supercars. Inside, luscious leathers and extremely solid build quality befit it’s $100,000+ Price tag.

So, next time you are in Germany, make sure you are on the unrestricted section. of the Autobahn before you drop the hammer, because if you aren’t, there’s a big, bad, bimmer coming up behind you.
