All Acceleration All The Time Video: Jim Pace Hammers A Camaro, A Couple Old Can-Am Cars, And Porsches In This Hammer Down Video

Everyone that drives a car digs the feeling of being pressed back into the seat when you hit the gas. From your grandmother to the dink in the Prius next to you in traffic, even non-car people understand what this sensation is. When people who don’t know spark plugs from lug nuts talk about a car being “peppy” or “fast” they’re reacting to that feeling we all get when the skinny pedal moves as close to the floor as you are willing to push it. While it is true that most of these people think a stock 200hp Camry is a fire-breather, they at least get the idea and that’s why a video like this one is cool to watch. The two constants in the footage are BangShift adopted master of the corner himself, Jim Pace and constant acceleration. This isn’t a video about threshold braking or diving under someone into a corner, this is a video about romping on the loud pedal and hauling ass.

Believe it or not, Mark Donohue had one of the best comments about horsepower and acceleration when he said something along the lines of, “The way you know that you car has enough horsepower is when it is capable of laying two strips of rubber from the exit of one corner to the entry of another.” That quote is not exact but it is absolutely what he was saying. Road racing guys may be way more into “balance” than drag racers or off road truck enthusiasts but at the end of the day, the thrill of being smashed back into the seat like someone threw an 80lb bag of concrete on your chest is loved by everyone.

The side benefit of this video is that outside of seeing Pace wheel some awesome cars like a classic Camaro, a couple of gnarly Porsches and at least two insane Can-Am cars is the noise of these engines at full throat. The small block in the Camaro sings like a sewing machine, the six bangers in the Porsches sound hellacious, and the Can-Am cars may make you wreck a pair of pants if you have the volume cranked to the moon.

What else can we say but press play below to see big horsepower, big speed, and our big BangShifty road racin’ hero hisself Jim Pace at work in the office!

Maybe we could do a poll for most awesome Road Course? Most say Laguna Seca, but I choose Road America for all the high speed sections.

My AA/CGA land speed car did indeed black mark the entire “Mile” at Maxton in setting the record

there’s nothing better than a car that will try to turn your spine into part of the seat with acceleration and try to rip your head off sideways in a turn and damn near put your face in your lap when you brake. Road racing cars do it all better!
