We love the Mongrel Project, a combination of a cool old British Ford and Mazda Miata that is somehow right in every way. The stance, the width, the flares, the fabrication, it all speaks to us and has been so much fun to follow. Matt from Urchfab is a machine and he’s been thrashing to get this thing ready. He’s painted more and more of the car but is finishing up the suspension and such before making the final pass at painting the body. The interior is painted however and so is the underhood area. But there is plenty more to do and that’s why we’re sharing the assembly of all the suspension parts underneath. He’s also installing the exhaust, pedals, and steering bits, because this thing won’t assemble itself. And did we mention it’s getting a “happy handle” hand brake as well?

While there is still a lot to do, this project is getting dangerously close to the final stages and we can’t wait to see it come together and get out on the race track. This is the kind of project that inspires us, that’s for sure.

We sure wish we were friends with Matt so we could take the Mongrel out for a spin when done. We think it would be a riot on the right road coarse, that’s for sure.
