The 48-Hour Corvette Is Happening LIVE Folks! March 10th Watch Us Build It From The Ground Up!

That’s right folks, if you have seen the 48-Hour Camaro running around the country for the past few years, and watched us build it LIVE right here on BangShift.com, then you know just how bad ass that ride is. Well wait until you see what we’re going to do with the 48-Hour Corvette! This is going to be one bad C3 Corvette. We’re talking engine, trans, rear-end, suspension, brakes, wiring, plumbing, A/C, cooling, stereo, interior, custom graphics, data logging, and much much more over 48 hours LIVE. No behind the scenes team working on stuff, no camera tricks, no bullshit. Just real live car building going on with the best companies and people in the business.

We’ll drive the 48-Hour Corvette into the shop at Ridetech in stock form, strip it down to nothing, and start putting it all back together. The MAC’S Tie Downs Pivot Plate will be swinging in a Lingenfelter LS that features MSD AIRFORCE induction, ignition and more, along with parts from Holley EFI. It will be backed by a T56 Magnum trans behind a Centerforce clutch and will feature Ridetech Suspension, Baer Brakes, Forgeline wheels wrapped in Falken tires. Dynotech is providing the driveshaft and half-shafts out back which will spin and be spun by parts from Moser Engineering. C&R is keeping the engine cool while Vintage Air keeps the driver and passenger cool, and Classic Instruments is going to make sure they can keep tabs on the engine and speed. Racepak is going to be installing one of their datalogging systems so that we can tune this sucker up for every single track. Wiring is going to be handled by American Autowire, and plumbing will include a custom Ridetech Fuel Tank and Vaporworx pump setup. Kicker is going to make sure the tunes are rolling in this thing, and Custom Image Corvettes is going to get the front and rear looking good with fiberglass bumpers and a front spoiler. There are plenty of cool little customs touches going into the 48-Hour Corvette as well, so you are not going to want to miss it.

When we’re done, we’ll pull it out, rev it up, and dump the clutch for tire smoking fun before it comes to an event near you!

BangShift’s Chad Reynolds will be the host of the entire 48-Hour Corvette build and will take you on an adventure you won’t want to miss. This is going to be the build of 2015, and you will be able to watch it all LIVE right here at BangShift.com!

Stay tuned, because more announcements will be coming as we work our way to March 10th, when we kick off this build LIVE.

Transforming a car or truck, no matter what its shape, into something better is what hot rodding is all about. On May 16th-18th of 2011 we attempted to take hot rodding to a whole new level with the 48 Hour Camaro build. Did we succeed? Hell Yeah we succeeded! That 67 Camaro has been on the road competing in events across the country ever since. The time has come to introduce the 48 Hour Corvette! On March 10th, we will once again attempt what many believe to be an impossible build. A typical eBay purchased 1972 Corvette will roll into the 48 Hour build center to be transformed into a fully equipped track monster. The build will take place over three sixteen-hour workdays. The entire build will be live streaming on YouTube with manufacturer specific question and answer sessions and interviews throughout. As the C3 is disassembled the parts that are not being reused will be available for purchase on eBay. How do we properly finish off a build of this nature? We take the car straight to the track after completion, that’s how. Full details about the build will be updated daily leading up to the build at www.48hourcorvette.com .

48 Hour Corvette Supporting Suppliers

What do we want? POWER! When do we want it? RIGHT NOW! Where’s it coming from? LINGENFELTER!
RideTech’s Level 3 Coil-Over System will keep the Corvette’s tires appropriately in contact with the pavement.
We couldn’t possibly expect the Corvette to be reliable on and off track without parts from MSD Ignition. From the new Atomic AIRFORCE intake to the MSC Coils and Super Conductor Wires, MSD has it figured out!
The 6 speed Tremec transmission will get the power from the crank to the shaft thanks to the team at Bowler!
Replacing the Corvette’s 31-year old harness is mandatory in a build of this nature. American Autowire has been leading the industry since 1983 and you already know we wouldn’t use anyone but the best!
Keeping this Corvette cool on track and off track is the job of C&R Racing. If you want to talk about badass radiators that are used across every form of motorsports then C&R is the place for that conversation.
Even a fully capable track car will see plenty of road miles headed to and from events.Who really wants to spend hours on the road without some Katy Perry, Georgia Sattelites, or Metallica drowing out the highway.
You don’t want to go fast without being able to stop fast and no one knows more about making a Corvette stop fast than the guys at Baer Brake Systems!
When it comes to wheels, precise offsets, low weights, and incredible strength are all mandatory. That’s why we choose Forgeline. Don’t forget that they are badass looking too!
There really is no other name in the automotive industry that has been deeper involved with as wide range of racing as Holley. They will be supplying multiple items for this year’s build.
C3 Corvettes were always known for weak rear axles. We won’t be having those problems with our DynoTech pieces.
The Corvettes vitals will be tracked with a Racepak data logging system.
Have to keep track of the vitals and speed while on track and no better way than a beautiful set of gauges. They are “The finishing touch”.
Fuel delivery is crucial so we demand the best when it comes to a fuel pump assembly.
MAC’S Tie Downs have and always will be RideTech’s first choice for all of our tie down needs!
We learned years ago that Falken made the best tire for what we do with these muscle cars. You have to trust in your tire to perform when you need it. We trust Falken more than any other.
If it’s not obvious to you why a supporting team member like Summit Racing is so important then we are going to need you to go ahead and mail your gearhead of america membership card into us today. We will gladly see that it makes it to someone who deserves it.
When thousandths of a second determines first and second place there’s no time for a slipping clutch!
Nearly every muscle car in the RideTech stable is equipped with a Moser rearend in one form or another. The 48 Hour Corvette will be no different.
Keeping the front of the engine clean and the interior cool is the name of the game!
Light weight fiberglass bumpers and front spoiler help prepare the C3 for track duty. Custom Image Corvettes is the place when it comes to Corvette fiberglass.
