I know we don’t talk about motorcycles all that much around here, but I pay attention to motorcycle riders’ opinions on roads quite a bit because they are usually looking for the same things I want in a fun drive in my favorite cars. After all, who doesn’t like a road with great scenery and a spirited drive? Does that mean you have to tear it up in your car on a road that motorcyclists think is great? Everyone, and no you don’t, are the answers respectively.
I’ve been on a few of the roads on this list and can tell you that there are tons more great drives out there, so make 2023 the year you are going to see as many miles of fun driving behind the wheel of your favorite rides.

I rode California’s Highway 1 from Cambria to Crescent city a few years back. It was in June. The funny thing was, I saw the water briefly until just north of Moss Landing. Then fog rolled in, and I didn’t see it again until the return trip. Riding across the Golden Gate bridge, all I saw was the red uprights!
There are several challenging areas. In fact I came across an accident scene with a downed motorcycle and emergency crews just north of Stinson Beach.
Avenue of the Giants is a “Must-Do” detour along the way.
In recent years, it seems the road had had several closures due to wash-outs and rock slides in the Big Sur area, so check the road conditions before planning a trip. With the big rains we are experiencing, there are sure to be issues! Ride safe!
