Rebeldryver’s Garage Gets Their 1965 Impala SS Running Again With Help From American Powertrain!
Rebeldryver, AKA Scott Liggett, is one of the early BangShifter’s and his ’65 Impala has been a staple on these pages since the beginning. Scott has written about upgrades and tons of roadtrips with his big Chevy for years. He has driven the snot out of this car, not to mention drag racing and autocrossing it. Now, Scott has a YouTube channel, Rebeldryver’s Garage, where he has been documenting his latest journeys with the Impala and other projects.
Scott’s Impala was off the road for four years when his 383 finally bit the dust. Last year, he got busy getting it back on the road again. He stepped up by getting one of BluePrint Engine’s Power Adder 400’s, a T-56 Magnum 6 speed from American Powertrain, and connecting the two through a McLeod RXT Street Twin clutch kit, using the stock clutch linkage.
All was happy in Scott’s world until the stock throwout bearing failed big time, and his Impala got parked again. Enter American Powertrain with their new Hydramax hydraulic kits. These kits make going from a mechanical clutch to hydraulic on muscle cars and classics super easy. Follow along with Scott as he installs a Hydramax in his Impala and gets back on the road again.

Video Description:

Our Project Evil Orchid 65 Impala SS already has a BluePrint Engines small block 400, part # BP4003CT1, and an American Powertrain T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission. We have been running the factory mechanical clutch linkage and throwout bearing. That throwout bearing failed. We talked to American Powertrain and they recommended their Hydramax system. We show how to install one. It was easy!
