Great Drive: Watch British Touring Car Championship Driver Sam Tordoff Run From Last To Second In Porsche 356!

There’s some of you out there who will say, “Of course the guy who is a BTCC racer is going to fare well against mostly amateurs in old cars!” Your opinion is not wrong at all, but it’s also lacking in the joy of watching someone who is a really good driver, drive really good. This is a profile in driving like a semi-controlled mad man which is exactly what Sam Tordoff has to do in his regular job as a racer in the British Touring Car Championship series in England. He was invited to compete at one of the awesome historic races during the Goodwood Revival in 2018 and he took full advantage.

Piloting an early 1950s Porsche 356 dressed out in green and white, he starts from the back of the pack and in the span of several laps he works his way into second place. The guy is not driving over his head or being reckless he is just using the little car for all that it is worth. The shots of him sawing at the wheel are awesome from outside the car.

In the BTCC Tordoff races a front wheel drive car so this thing is 100% different from that being rear drive and rear engine. It is fun to watch him use the track, use the car, and use his skills to carve up most everyone in the field!

Watch Sam Tordoff put all his skills to the test and rocket from last to second!
