Classic YouTube: Drifting The Mitsuoka Le-Seyde, Japan’s Answer To The Zimmer!

Classic YouTube: Drifting The Mitsuoka Le-Seyde, Japan’s Answer To The Zimmer!

Are you familiar with the Zimmer brand? They are one of those companies that repurpose a new platform…in their case, Ford-sourced setups…and drape it in a body that looks like it came straight from the richer section of the 1930s. They are funky, they are a bit cheesy to be honest, and apparently in Japan there was a copycat. Mitsuoka is a Japanese company that does a similar deal with Nissans and other manufacturers. They are probably better known for the polarizing Orochi sports car, but they are also responsible for this creation, the Le-Seyde. It’s based on a Nissan Silvia S15 chassis, so it’s a natural setup for drifting…just a very, very odd-looking one. Maybe it’s just me, but I would be highly disappointed if the driver didn’t step out of the car wearing a tux with tails, sporting a grand walking stick and wearing a helmet polished up to a perfect shine with their initials in gold leaf on the sides. If you’re gonna play the part, live it, right?
