Classic YouTube: Tanner Foust, Shredding The Cheese With A Drift Car

Classic YouTube: Tanner Foust, Shredding The Cheese With A Drift Car

Did you ever hear of the show “Masters of Champions”? Probably not…only a small handful of episodes were aired by ABC before the plug got pulled. I never watched it, but from what I gather it was a cross between “America’s Got Talent” and “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” in style. A series of competitors would come out and do the best thing they could do to wow three judges, and at the end of the episode one of the competitors would wind up the Master, and would have their picture put up on a wall. Sounds a bit like kindergarten to us, but hey, nobody said prime-time television was educational in nature.

In this clip that Scott Renshaw tipped me off to, you will see two drivers take on…a wheel of cheese. No, seriously…you can’t make this up if you tried. Both of the drivers are using Nissan 350Zs set up to hang the tail out and both will attach a cheese wheel weighing in at about seven pounds or so with a device attached to their car. The drivers? Verena Mai and Tanner Foust. Yeah, before he was playing the role of the wheelman for the History Channel’s take on the TopGear franchise, he was drifting a Nissan on stage, trying to shred a wheel of cheese into nothing while ripping donuts in front of a live studio audience.

Gotta start somewhere, I guess.
