With less than a week to go before the Speedway Motors CAM Challenge East in Peru, Indiana, where for three days I’ll be running my Monte Carlo SS against some of the biggest names (And vehicles!) in the Pro Touring world, there’s more than a few thoughts running through my head. Here are the top three:
1. “I have an 1800 mile round trip, plus racing, all in a vehicle that has never been West of Pennsylvania. Please Lord, nothing break that I can’t fix with a socket set, hammer, and/or zip ties.”
2. “Would it be weird if I asked Mary Pozzi to sign ‘Stick you bitch!!!’ on my chest…uh, I mean, dashboard?”
3. “This event is going to awesome. We need more BangShifters to show up!”
This is where you guys come in. At least one other BangShifter is racing at the event (In a G-body no less! Looking forward to meeting you, James!), but more of you guys and gals needs to show up and flog your early or late model iron with us.
The admission fee is $75 total for all three days, a price I’d gladly pay to watch the event, let alone race in it.
Registration ends on August 4th, so there’s still a few days left to sign up. If you’re on the East Coast, don’t miss out on what is going to be one of the best SCCA Classic American Muscle autocross events of the year!
Have a great time, Dave. Wish I could go. Make sure to chat with all the drivers. Hint: Ask Al Unser Jr to to ride in your car for some pointers. You might be surprised by his answer.
