We LOVE a good Craigslist ad and we know that many of you do as well. Know who else is in the club? Voice of the NHRA Alan Reinhart. He’s the gearhead who sent me the link to the ad we’re talking about here which is promoting the sale of a 1964 Impala SS in Scottsdale, Arizona. Not over the top, not profane, and not goofy, the ad stands out for a couple of awesomely crafted paragraphs that both make you smile and get the seller’s point across that he’s selling a 100% original survivor of a car not not a restoration or spruce up jobbed machine like the majority of others are from this time frame. To us, good writing can provide funny visuals and this ad does that perfectly.
Regarding the car, it sure looks like a nice piece and to find one with the original interior, motor, trans and paint on it that looks this good is fun. Not a barn find, it is a 26,000 mile cream puff that must have been sold to someone who understood the idea of an “instant classic” because for the machine to be 51 years old and have accrued that small mileage number you are talking about 500 miles of cruising a year. Certainly not much.
Outside of the jokes and snark, the seller does provide all the info any interested buyer would want. If you dig 1960s Impalas, this could be a good buy for you…especially if you fear ending up like the dad in the paragraph below!

If you want to be average and have a basic 2 door $15,000 1964 impala like your average neighbor, they hey, to each their own. Did your girlfriend choose to date you because she likes boring and average? No! Do your kids sit at home every evening at 6p.m. at the dinner table saying “When is our average boring dad going to come home and feed us our saltines and porridge for dinner?” The dad of ours who has a cheap $15,000 boring, average 1964 Impala that looks exactly like all the neighbors cheap, junky, pig with lipstick, plain 1964 Impalas because all the dads in our neighborhood wanted to get a “good deal” and the 1964 Impala they bought was the cheapest, lowest priced one they could find.
Well, good news! You’re girlfriend and kids aren’t going to say that stuff about you because you’re not boring and average! And you’re going to buy a real 1964 SS Impala!
Damn, that went quick!!! Maybe Lemmy scooped it for that final cruise. Rock on, brother!
