If there was every any question about the performance ability of the RideTech 48 Hour Corvette, it was buried 13-feet deep in a lead lined vault after the car’s all conquering performance at the Texas Optima Ultimate Street Car event. With Chris “Smitty” Smith behind the wheel, the car lowered the boom on the competition racking up scores that the series has never seen before. Smith swept the event from wire to wire collection the max allowable points in events like the road rally and the design/engineering challenge but the real story came when the car got onto the racetrack.
With a Falken tires on all four corners of the machine, Smith systematically worked his way through the Hot Lap, Speed Stop, and Autocross events recording 25 points in each, which is the most you can earn. The reason? He has great driving talent and he also has a great machine under him. What makes a car like the 48-Hour Corvette really special is that you have multiple things working in concert with one another. The engine is providing the power, the suspension is managing the movements of the car, the way the weight is transferring, and the tires are providing the mechanical grip that keeps the whole thing moving in the direction that the drivers wants it to be going in. RideTech cars have been on Falken rubber for a few years now and the results speak for themselves. This video is awesome because it shows in-car and out of car footage that proves just how hard this car is driven and how well this car works under the harshest conditions. Big power, big engineering technology in the suspension, and big grip on the corners. That is a recipe for success!
It’s a good thing they didn’t put it on RE71s or Rival Ses and really embarrass the competition.
