Event Coverage: The Evan Gordon Memorial Lap Is A New Year’s Day Cruise In Indy That Draws 400+ Cars For A Great Cause

(Photos by RideTech/Mike Mendenhall) – As if you needed more proof to illustrate how awesome car guys and girls are we have some. Every year on New Year’s Day hot rodders, classic car enthusiasts, modern muscle freaks, and four by four fanatics get together to make a lap of the city of Indianapolis as a fund raiser/get together and to stave off the winter blues that we all get this time of the year. In 2015 more than 400 cars and trucks showed up to take place and the event was held in the memory of well known and loved local rodder Dallas Sheese. Dallas passed away from cancer recently and the cruise helped raise money for his family, which is a very noble cause. Making those whole deal that much cooler, local law enforcement supports and helps the group as they make their way around the city. Freezing temps didn’t keep anyone away or stop even a single member of the group from having a blast ringing in the new year on this sunny trip around one of America’s most historically speed crazed cities.

RideTech’s Mike Mendenhall was on the scene and he shot these photos at the cruise. We think that it is another example of how this community we all are a part of circle the wagons to help our brothers and sisters when they are in need. We often hear the tough stories of street racing or whatever other negative thing you want to think about so it is doubly important to spread the word and share the love when great events like this are created and continue to grow and prosper for no other reason than the fact that we all love our cars and we all have a basic need and feeling that everyone is in this thing together.

Good on everyone who participated and thanks to Mike and Ridetech for providing these spectacular photos.
