There’s a certain awesomeness that we continue to discover and rediscover about the European hillclimb scene. The fact that it’s all a giant kind of run-whatcha-brung scene is so appealing to us. We see all kinds of wild cars and trucks at this thing but honestly the little hellion below takes the cake for us. As this will be the last post at the top of the page in 2020, it seems only fitting to close the wacky year with this wacky car.
You are looking at a Fiat 500 that has been given some radical fenders, some equally radical and massive tires, and powered by a one off engine that uses two Hayabusa motorcycle four bangers to make one 11,000 RPM capable V8. Yeah, it just keeps getting better, doesn’t it?! Hooked to a sequential transmission you are going to see the little car on the chassis dyno and then on the hilly courses where it can be found screaming, yelling, and we presume kicking ass along the way.
The engine is interesting for a billion reasons and the sound is one of them. We never truly seem to hear that perfect V8 symphonic noise. It sounds amazing and shrieking but it doesn’t really ever totally sound like a V8 to us. We’re certainly not down on the car for this we’re just observing.
Well, this is the most awesome little package we have seen in some time. Like a little cannonball that sings soprano, we’re in love.
I like odd little cars, NICE! (there’s also Ferarri/Lambo powered 600s out there that are pretty cool too)
