International Speed Appreciation: Here’s How Goodwood Celebrated The 100th Indy 500 Back In 2016

Goodwood’s YouTube channel has been celebrating their “Top 25” moments over the last few weeks and this video popped up the other day. What it shows is how the event celebrated the 100th running of the Indy 500 and like everything they do, they did it with class, style, and flare. An assemblage of amazing drivers and amazing historic cars from the race delighted the fans as they wove their way up the hill. From the earliest chugging, lumbering machines to the beautiful roadsters, the early rear engine cars, and the evolution to today, the fans got to see it all.

The Indy 500 is an incredible piece of American history and racing history. Sure, the race has changed over the years but the fact remains that it is known the world over and frankly I have gotten more interested in it personally which has made my appreciation for what it is grow by leaps and bounds. The era of bizarre, all-out experimentation may be over but there are things that still remain the same and that’s the odd track layout, the tiny margin for error, and the overt danger that the drivers face on every speeding lap at the Brickyard.

People all over the world, especially in Europe pay attention to the Indy 500. We think it was cool that the race and its famed equipment were honored this way a couple of years ago. Man, we need to get over there and cover this event!
