This is just one of those videos that we could watch on a loop for hours. Between the course, the car, and the history involved in all of it, you cannot help but love this scene. The video was take at the HSR Classic24 at Daytona which is an incredible vintage road racing event that we’ll talk more about you with later. The car is a 1966 GT350 that actually started life as a Hertz rental car before being transitioned into a full racer in 1971.
We’d go on but there is someone far more qualified –
Our pal Craig described this car and its story perfectly – Read this then watch the video –
This is Scott Turner in his Savannah Race Engineering prep REAL DEAL 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang. Car was originally a Hertz rent a racer turned real racer in the early ’70’s. As the story goes, a father and son were driving home from a local SCCA race and spotted the Hertz Mustang on a used car lot. They stopped to look, the dealer wasn’t very happy to have the car, it was part of an estate sale and he thought it difficult to sell because it had no interior and big bars running through it. Father and son made an offer of $1,000 and were racing it not too long after.
Great footage both video and sound!!!!
