This Judd Indy Car V8 Engine Is A Different Kind of Boosted Bullet – Good Freaky Hot Rod Engine!

We’ve showed you Judd V8 engines before, mostly in videos featuring road racing and endurance type stuff. The dual overhead camshaft pieces are screamers and this one that we found on eBay definitely qualifies. Making about 750hp at over 13,000 RPM in super speedway trim, the main concern is not necessarily raw horsepower but rather survival. These engines not only needed to turn the 13,000 RPM but do it for a long, long time. Like hundreds of miles of time. So what does that mean? It means that the oiling system inside this thing is insane. Multiple oil pumps to keep the good stuff flowing, multiple water pumps to maintain correct operating temperature, a Hilborn mechanical fuel pump to keep the fuel moving, and eight hard working injectors to keep the engine fed.

While this would not be an ideal street engine because of its insanely high revving personality and the fact that it’s a full on race motor with race motor tendencies. That does not mean we don’t want to see someone stuff one of these into a Model A or something and let it rip. Hey if the engine can handle about 23psi of boost for hundreds of miles, it’ll probably handle 40 for short bursts, right? That 1,000hp mark would not be too hard to crank with one of these things, would it?

The $20,000 price of entry isn’t horrible here, especially because this is a complete and working engine. Ideally it’ll end up in a “vintage” race car and compete at historic style events with other cars that are not old but are no longer fast enough to hang with the modern machines of today.

C’amon…you know you want it.
