Just Send It: A Rainy Day At The Nurburgring And A Raptor…Why Not Drift The Green Hell?

Just Send It: A Rainy Day At The Nurburgring And A Raptor…Why Not Drift The Green Hell?

There is no question that this is a full-on PR stunt, but c’mon…putting a Ford Raptor on the Nurburgring alone is a pretty solid move, putting Vaughn Gittin, Jr. behind the wheel promises to be entertaining, and together they do not disappoint. The Raptor has been Ford’s big, brash and badass F-series variant for almost a decade now, and we’ve gotten used to seeing them being jumped and romped on off-road, as they were designed to do. But regardless of whether you have the 5.4L version, the 6.2L version, or the twin-turbo V6, part of the Raptor’s charm has been power on demand, and plenty of it. The V6 might not be music to your ears, but 450 horsepower and 510 ft/lbs of torque cannot be sneezed at either.

The Green Hell is treacherous normally. But given the total size of the course and it’s proximity to mountains, the weather can vary even in the middle of a lap. Rain equals no fun in an overpowered Mustang, so breaking out the tame (by comparison) truck to go have a little fun would be a wiser idea. We’re pretty sure that someone at Ford reminded Gittin how much it would cost if the Raptor happened to tag one of the Armco barriers and made sure that all the proper waivers were signed…

It would be better if it didn\’t have the HORRIBLE V6 engine sounds. V8s forever!
