The Simple Truth: Why Low Volume Cars Make Literally No Financial Sense – Interesting Watch

It’s a really common refrain among people who love cars. “Why can’t they just make,” followed by a really cool and specific model with some cool transmission and engine combo. It seems easy. These are car companies after all, right? Companies designed to engineer and produce automobiles. As it turns out, the production side of it usually isn’t the problem.
Yes, it is expensive to engineer the car and make it but the regulations required globally make small volume cars a financial death wish for a company. This is a perspective that we have never really heard much about or thought that much about but when Jason Cammisa starts talking about the numbers involved in not only making the car legal to be sold in the USA but also Europe, you’ll begin to understand why car guy yelping is not typically turned into action.

In fact, the more we reflect on this video the more we think the fact that ANY lower volume sports car, fun car, muscle car, whatever, gets built and why these days they are virtually all a performance variant of an existing model and not a stand along platform on their own.

We think you’ll dig this.
