(By Tom Lohnes) – After only six months on the market, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has surpassed any other Mustang on sale in monthly sales. Overall though, Ford has actually seen a rather large drop in sales this June across the board, which isn’t common for them.
Why is this?
Well, two things account for Ford’s decline in sales. One of them obviously being the microchip shortage that is not only ravaging the car industry, but moving on to other things too. This has made every car company struggle, and it looks like the end might not be in the near future. The second being that Ford’s most important new model, the Bronco, has just entered production, meaning they’re still in the stage of fulfilling pre-orders rather than actually selling cars.
The Mach-E surpassing the regular Mustang and its convertible counterpart truly surprised me by how short a time it took. Of course it was going to happen eventually but six months is quick for any car, especially an electric SUV.
So, as demand rises for the new Bronco, Ford is trying to find a solution on how to make them quicker than they already are. We’ll see what happens, because breaking the short slump will be important for the rest of their 2021 financial year.

Maybe because the Mach E is the new “thing” on the market? Once all the “gotta haves” buy one the sales will level off. And besides, one is an SUV and the other a performance coupe so their sales numbers are apples and oranges anyway.
Would be interesting to know who is buying them – is the Mach-e going into fleets for example? Or the volume numbers, if volume is down, have they sold say 2000 Mach E’s and 1500 mustangs?
This is generally the way the ev industry demonstrates “huge increases in popularity” of their product.
Its like when you read that vegan meat has doubled in sales, when their sale volume is so small that someone ordering to vegan burgers doubles their sales.
Yeah, I am taking this news with a grain of salt. Too many unknown factors.
I still think the name looks like they misspelled calling it the Mustang Mockery. Nothing against the car, but I think they gave it the wrong name.
There’s more man – bunners and soccer mom’s than I thought.
The electric is way nicer
