MAHLE Motorsports Releases PowerPak Piston Kit for Wissota B-Mod Concept Engines (Ford and Chevy)

MAHLE Motorsports Releases PowerPak Piston Kit for Wissota B-Mod Concept Engines (Ford and Chevy)

For those unfamiliar with the stock car racing scene around the country, the Wissota organization is a massive one. Racers from Montana, Minnesota, the Dakotas, Idaho, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Manitoba, and Ontario all compete in the various classes that the organization offers.

One of the most popular classes is the modified category that uses the “concept” engine package developed by the organization. These are Ford and Chevrolet small blocks that are restricted in many elements to keep the cost reasonable. They sell for like $6,500 depending on the builder but the reality is that they are strong, durable, and good engines for the series.

MAHLE Motorsport, recognizing the popularity of the classes and the engines has jumped in with a piston design for these mills that will help make them even better for competitors. The design has been approved by Wissota so they are 100% legal for use in competition engine builds.

This is great stuff for the series and its racers. More below.

All the technological features of a traditional MAHLE PowerPak
in an approved part number

Fletcher, NC  – MAHLE Motorsport now offers a PowerPak Piston Kit for Wissota concept engines for both small block Chevy and small block Ford.  Featuring MAHLE Motorsport’s lightweight yet strong, low drag slipper skirt forging, dual coatings and precision ring grooves for maximum sealing and power, this new PowerPak is approved for Wissota Auto Racing and Wissota Late Models known for 347 – 360 cubic inch engines generating 500+ HP.

The all forged pistons are precision machined to exacting tolerances on purpose built equipment manufactured by MAHLE specifically designed for piston production and feature precision ring grooves for maximum sealing and power. The top ring groove is hard anodized to protect against micro-welding insuring optimum ring seal over the life of the engine.

The pistons are dual coated with a phosphate dry lubricant to guard against galling in the pin bores and to add lubricity in the second and third ring grooves followed by a Grafal® anti-friction skirt coating to reduce drag, scuffing, friction and cylinder bore wear.  This proprietary skirtcoating has a cushioning property that greatly reduces wear for both the piston and the bore as well as a substantial reduction in noise. Included in the kit are 1.5. 1.5, 3.0mm ductile iron moly rings.
