Morning Symphony: A Compilation Of Spectator Drag Racing From 2019

Morning Symphony: A Compilation Of Spectator Drag Racing From 2019

How badly do you miss racing right about now? I’ll put it like this: after a few weeks of not really driving anywhere, driving our Cruze…that 138-horsepower fuel-sipping thing…felt like I was driving some rowdy-ass go-kart and driving the Angry Grandpa Chrysler was an exercise in not nuking the rear tires in a moment of sheer bliss. Right now I’d race anything. Got a Geo Metro with a frayed seat belt and a dirt track in your backyard? As long as I can sit my ass in the seat while wearing my helmet, I’m game at this point. And I’m sure many of you feel the same.

To whet your appetite a bit, we’ve gotten this compilation of 2019 spectator drag racing clips from Tberg Media. This isn’t as redneck as it sounds. Yeah, it’s street cars driving around a circle track, got it. But these drivers are legitimately driving their asses off. Some use bootfuls of power to make it happen. Others race as if NASCAR driving talent scouts are looking, and the car mix is pretty solid: F-bodies fight Fieros, Mitsubishis take on Volkswagens, and hot-rodded CR-Vs take on V8-swapped Jeep Cherokees. And every now and then something properly wicked show up, like an Evo and a Mercedes E63. It’s an hour of amateurs hanging it out in the hope of…wait, what do these guys win?
