Morning Symphony: Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione – Nothing Sound Like A Ferrari V-12

Morning Symphony: Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione – Nothing Sound Like A Ferrari V-12

Ferrari crafted just over 1,400 365 GTB/4 vehicles between 1968 and 1973. Out of that production, only a handful featured the lightweight body, the plexiglas windows, and even fewer featured the 450 horsepower tune for the 4.4L V-12 engine. To most people, the Ferrari Daytona should be remembered as one of the most beautiful creations that Ferrari and Pininfarina ever released into public hands. These are curvy dream machines that somehow managed to both wear muscular shapes with pride, yet somehow incorporate timelessness that few Ferraris can equal well. But like every Ferrari that Enzo ever signed off on, it would be raced. Street cars sold based on the credit that Scuderia Ferrari built up on tracks across the world, not based on beauty. Whether they were in private hands or a part of Luigi Chinetti’s NART racing team, Daytonas would be seen not only at their namesake track but at Sebring, Watkins Glen, LeMans and more.

Few have ever sat inside of a Daytona while it’s in the middle of a track workout, but thanks to the advent of GoPros, we can let you be the fly on the back window as this particular Competizione gets taken around Imola. Crisp gearhcanges, that sonorous soundtrack, and the almost comical vision of the Ferrari running up on a Miata that’s in the way like a nature documentary predator and prey scene…what’s not to love here?
