(By Tom Lohnes) – Infiniti has fallen behind in the premium brand game, in both quality and sales. Even though they do offer the Q60 Red Sport 400, which is basically a detuned Nissan GT-R, and the new QX-60, which is supposed to give the Germans a run for their money, they are far from the greatness that was the original G35 and G37 that really put them on the map. Well, the detuned GT-R is getting a significant upgrade, in the form of the Q60 Project Black S.
With a rumored 550 horsepower, AWD, and an 8,000 RPM redline, the Q60 is getting the biggest upgrade it has ever gotten. Gone is the contemporary, clean styling of the normal Q60 in favor of an ultra-aggressive body kit that makes it look like this thing wants to punch someone. 0-60 is not confirmed yet, but amid-3 second run is pretty much the highest it’ll go, considering the GT-R did 2.9 seconds with 480 horses back in 2007. Inside, the Q60 gains recaro seats, a suede steering wheel, and all the carbon fiber you could ever imagine. Development has been going on since the concept was released in 2017, so they’ve had a while to iron out any kinks and make the ultimate Infiniti.
This is a fast beast, but it sure ain’t cheap. Pricing is almost definitely six-figures, so start saving now.
The car doesn’t make sense and I don’t believe it will save Infinity from its downward spiral.
