Teutonic Tank: The New Mercedes S-Class Is Horsepower, Luxury, and Technology On Full Display

(By Tom Lohnes) – For decades now the Mercedes S-class and all of its variants have been the pinnacle of build quality, luxury, and all-around German engineering. This new generation of Teutonic Tank is nothing different and now it has technology over all of that wood and leather.

For starters all of the controls are in the screen, Tesla style. What is different than the Tesla though, is that you don’t have to navigate through like 2,000 menus to change the fan speed in the cabin. This screen has potential to be best in the business and it looks like it delivered.

This screen is 13.1 inches, and has all of your radio and navigation needs up top, and the climate control is permanently down at the bottom of the screen. Mercedes’ Voice control is best-in-class, so it should make operating anything a breeze. The new S-class packs new safety advancements too, such as rear-seat airbags and a new generation of self-driving software to use on the highway. Speaking of driving, the S-class can be optioned with anywhere from 362 to 630 horsepower, so get creative. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 9-speed automatic, but AWD is optional.

On the topic of options, pricing ranges between $90,000 and $215,000 for any S-class, so this thing can probably be customized to what color you want the body adhesive to be. Pretty cool.
