The $6.5 Million Dollar Beauty: Italian Maker Pagani Tries To Top Itself With The Pagani Huayra Tricolore

The $6.5 Million Dollar Beauty: Italian Maker Pagani Tries To Top Itself With The Pagani Huayra Tricolore

(By Tom Lohnes) – 10 years ago, Pagani dropped 10 of its most beautiful, most expensive cars yet, the $1,470,000 Zonda Tricolore. Well, now it’s back, just 5 million dollars more and in Huayra form.

With a Twin-Turbocharged AMG V12, a 7-speed DCT, a roof scoop that extends over the removable roof, and a whopping price tag, the Pagani Huayra Tricolore is made of exposed-weave, blue-tinted carbon fiber, with stripes the color of the Italian flag on the side. For the special edition a new splitter, wing, and side skirts are fitted along with a tune on the boosted V12 that pushes it’s already ridiculous 750 horsepower up to 840. Torque doesn’t disappoint, either, with 869 lb.-ft on tap.

Inside gorgeous blue leather is fitted along with an exposed shift linkage that makes putting the DCT in and out of gear feel like an occasion instead of a chore. With that face-melting torque comes a 0-100 time of 5.3 seconds, along with a sub-11 second quarter mile. Unlike its main “competitors”, the Bugatti Chiron and Koenigsegg Jesko, the Huayra takes more of a luxurious approach than the over-1,000 horsepower, aggressive take on the Jesko, and the heavy, expensive Dodge Challenger take on the Chiron.

With only 10 being made, the $6,750,000 starting price is somewhat justified. In my opinion, this is the top dog car on the market right now. Nothing can even be as boutique or exclusive as it, but for almost $7 Million? Maybe settle for a “normal” one at $3 Million.

These seem like the same variation on a theme that Pagani has been producing for many years. It’s very nice but not very exciting. Second would rather see more Ford tractor action.

Tom, you are a writing machine! I think you have perfected the 3 1/2 paragraph form and your voice comes through loud and clear.
