Porsche GT3 Cup Edition Revealed: Big Revs, Great Power, All The Wing Money Can Buy

(By Tom Lohnes) – Is the race car derived Porsche 911 GT3 or it’s racier sibling the GT3RS too boring for your tastes? Well here’s some good news for you because Porsche just released a real race car variant of its revvy sports car that the public can buy.

With 515 horsepower, 385 lb.-ft of torque, and an eye-widening 9,500 RPM redline, Porsche’s famed flat six pairs perfectly with the six-speed sequential gearbox paired to it in race form. The new 992-gen GT3 has not yet been revealed, but Porsche took the wraps off of the GT3 Cup a few days ago, so we basically know what the street car looks like. Outside, a giant wing resides in the rear, along with a singular light bar spanning the entire width of the rump. Up front, two giant hood vents cool radiators and direct air right over the roof to that wing. Inside is very racecar, with no sound deadening, floor mats, radio, or even parking brake, although A/C is an option. You won’t miss the lack of sound deadening however, because Porsche’s screaming engine may be the best sounding on the market. After a series of small modifications, this car can be made street-legal. All you really need is a rearview mirror, turn signals, and then you can take your all-out racecar to the store.

With a price of $315,000, the GT3 Cup is not cheap. But, for a street legal racecar that the company won’t keep for you (ahem, Ferrari), this is your only way in right now.
