Fun History: This Preview Road Test Of The New 1994 Ford Mustang Is A Fun Look Back

It is interesting to watch this MotorWeek preview road test of the new 1994 Ford Mustang with the hindsight we are able to glance at it with now, right? Things were fresh looking, engines were familiar and a little more punchy, and it seemed the evolutionary step Mustang needed to take after the long and successful FOX chassis era. It would definitely get a little more less familiar with the addition of the overhead camshaft modular family of engines which people freaked out about but eventually learned to love.

We have always wondered if that modular engine program was behind schedule or if Ford really did intend to begin selling a completely fresh generation of a staple model with the same engines it had before. Either way, these cars with the pushrod engines are definitely cool and they were back then as well. The early 4.6L stuff doesn’t spin our crank that hard around here, to be honest.

Mustang continues to evolve, even today. Imagine if we told these guys that there would be an electric SUV version in the future.  They’d laugh us out of the room!
