Racetrack for Sale: Cleveland Speedway In Tennessee Is Up For Grabs – Killer Little Clay Oval Track!

We love posting about race tracks for sale. Why? These places represent opportunity, hopes, dreams, and all the stuff that racing is about. Cleveland Speedway in Tennessee is the latest facility we have seen listed for sale and while the asking price is not cheap at $1.25-million the place is really nice and has been spruced up by the current owner over the years. The track has been opened for more than 60 years and is a 1/3 mile clay oval. The place looks like quintessential Americana to us with the board bleachers, green grass and bright red clay racing surface.

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it 1,000 times over but operating a racing facility of any size, shape, or form is a very hard job. People think it is glorious and the path to riches but the fact is that you have to get in there and get your hand dirty from sun up to sun down to succeed. Tracks that are managed by individuals who understand that succeed. Tracks that are run by people who think they can use the thing as a lifestyle business often decline and if not fail, end up in worse shape than they were in before said owners took over.

If you have dreamed of running and owning a facility, here’s your shot.

Here’s the details –

Cleveland Speedway is located in Cleveland, Tennessee, near Chattanooga. The track is prime real estate, as it is located just off of I-75, the most heavily traveled Interstate corridor in the east.

Cleveland Speedway opened its doors in 1954. The facility was owned and operated by legendary driver and inaugural NASCAR World 600 winner Joe Lee Johnson throughout much of its history.

The property spans 23.8 acres and features a 1/3 mile clay oval. The owner recently invested a large sum toward parking, new bleacher seats, and updated press boxes and concessions. As of now, the entire facility is in better shape than ever.

The owner was originally asking $1.8 million, but has recently lowered his asking price drastically to $1.25 million.

I have attached photos of the facility, as well as a plot map for you to take a look at.
