I’m not afraid to admit that under most circumstances, I am not a huge fan of the pro-touring look on a tri-five Chevrolet but in the case of this one, I am full-on in love. The stance, the color selection, the interior, engine, and all the stuff in between is done perfectly. This is a great example of restraint and letting the shape of the car and its factory coolness do the talking. This is one clean shoebox and frankly it would look good with any number of stances or looks but the way it is set up now is freaking phenomenal.
Of course you all know I am a fan of white cars with black wheels but these larger diameter steelies with the polished center caps are tough guy perfection and the ride height of the car is exceptional as well. It is tucking a shade of tire up front and out back you are seeing just as much as you need to. It does not have the “hovercraft” look that some cars get when they are too low nor does it look like the front axle has power to it.
The engine is a tried and true 383ci small block Chevy stroker that makes about 475hp and is backed with a five speed Tremec transmission. The whole car sits on a custom Art Morrison frame, and there is a triangulated four link out back that holds a 9″ Ford axle in place. That rear end is filled with 3.50 gears so when you dump that thing into 5th it will be chugging along nicely on the highway and saving you fuel. The entire car is clean enough to eat off of and while it may run counter to the performance handling nature of the thing, the factory bench seat is great. We know that some guys have bolsters sewn into the seat to give them some lateral support on the autocross course, etc but we love not seeing racing or individual buckets in there. Maybe this is more of a pro touring looker than a racer that is getting whooped up on. The thing certainly has the pieces to be great but in the end it is up to the owner on how they want to use their car, right?
The paint job is near 20 years old so the seller reports some nicks and stuff but seriously? This thing is gorgeous! Scroll down to see photos and then jump to the eBay ad to see way more photos and info.
CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PRO TOURING SHOEBOX!
love the living crap out of this!
Sick car!! Love the color combo. I seen it at goodguys last year and the car is amazing in person. Barney fife would be jacked to roll this thing down the streets of Mayberry.
Brian: Hate to burst your bubble, but the car is STOCK CHASSIS, with some Art Morrison rear suspension components.
If you look through all the pics, there is one showing rear coilover where stock chassis is visible, and another showing exhaust where stock chassis is visible.
Still a nice piece, but that will certainly make a difference in value of car……..
Good eye, I can see the stock UCAs up front! Still pretty nice though.
I’m not into Chevys and don’t like the Shoeboxes. I’ll take the 58 Chevy over all them boxes on wheels.
But the guy built it the way I like my cars. Nothing fancy.
You spend all that $ on building something like this and no A/C ?
Enjoy your next ‘pro tour’ to Arizona or anywhere in the South, Genius.
Do a wheelie man.
3rd Generation:
See the plates? They say “Washington” on them.
Yeah, we get A/C weather here like twice a year on the west side of the mountains, and while the metro areas are nightmare for traffic, the back roads are pretty damn good.
This car is dead nuts perfect to me.
I can’t believe the whining about A/C … good god, it’s a hot rod!
Perhaps you’d be better off at PriusWorld.Com.
Clean 55 210, subtle and not overdone. It would be perfect if it was a 56.
I believe in the old adage “If you don’t have anything nice to say…”. If you see something you like on a car say “I like that”, if you see something that you would do differently tell yourself “This is what I should do if I EVER have a car like this”. All the civility is being lost in society, as car people we should show people how to get along together.
That being said, there are a lot of things on this car that are really cool. The car itself is just awesome! I bet the body and interior look really close to how a white 55′ would have looked new in the dealership!
