Slow Cars Fast: Don’t Exceed 50 MPH With These Little Screamers!

Slow Cars Fast: Don’t Exceed 50 MPH With These Little Screamers!

Challenge Valpolcevera, from what I understand, is designed in a way to keep the average speed of any vehicle racing along Castelletto Circuit from exceeding a course average of 50 MPH. Okay, that’s all well and good, but…where’s the fun in only doing 40 KPH in average? Well, there’s two schools of thought: either you’re carving enough corners that you’re never going to hit a top speed anywhere, or you’re in a vehicle that will race at those speeds easily without feeling you’re sandbagging it. Can you think of anything you’d rip around a road course that you’d be okay with just doing 50 or so MPH in? We can think of a few. A Smart car with a Hayabusa swap comes to mind. Maybe something perfect for autocrossing, like some manic Mitsubishi Evo. Or maybe a side-by-side that’s always in a state of opposite lock. There’s nothing like speed, but there is a lot to be said for having fun at the expense of sheer speed. If I could only do a touring lap in a Ferrari at Silverstone or spend half a day with any vehicle in this video, plop me into one of those Kart Cross buggies and let me out onto the track!
