Stuck inside or not, missing racing action or not, we have to hand it to Cleetus McFarland. The dude bought a race track. He busted his ass to get his track into operable order. And just before Florida went dead-quiet, he went ahead and threw an entire field of Ford Crown Victorias out onto the track and raced them with a bunch of his friends, calling the whole affair the “Freedom 500”. He even managed to bump up a pay-per-view date a couple of days just to make sure that the local authorities didn’t rain on the parade of P71s that were ready to race.That’s solid. That’s badass. And nothing against the fans of video games or those who are enjoying the NASCAR iRacing footage from different tracks in the digital world, but we’ll take our racing in the real world.

For everybody who snorts every time you hear the phrase “stock car” before muttering something about how “that shit ain’t stock, hasn’t been in years”, this is your proof that you’re right. Cut them some slack with some of the technical issues…rushing an event like this was never going to be smooth. But if you want solid circle-track racing, this is for you. A bunch of YouTubers in old cop cars with nitrous on board is going to be entertaining. Don’t believe me? Watch for yourself.
