For many of us, cars are among the most influential forces in our lives. Not in the weird way but in the sense that we have grown up with memories centered around them. The first ones we ever saw. Certainly the first ones we ever drove and perhaps beyond that, the first ones we have ever lusted for. This absolutely beautiful video from Petrolicious manages to capture all of that over the span of four minutes. From a young boy enraptured to an old man living out his dreams, it speaks to the wonder that we all have for cars and what they mean to our lives.
This video may verge on the “too artistic” front for some of you and we respect that but we also love the fact that people create this kind of art to celebrate the automobile. In some ways the things we love are under attack. The forces of “anti-combstion” seem to grow incrementally louder every day. Perhaps it is the nature of “progress” as the world knows it. Hell, who are we to say?
What we do understand is the fact that these machines of rubber, steel, leather, and glass have made human beings more mobile, motivated, and creative than perhaps anything else over the span of more than 100 years. There have been space programs, there have been amazing engineering advancements, and there have been achievements we did not expect possible. All the while those guys and girls drove cool cars to work. Fact.
