The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Is All Internal Combustion, All The Money, and Not That Bad On Gas!

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Is All Internal Combustion, All The Money, and Not That Bad On Gas!

(By Tom Lohnes) – Do you have a spare four million dollars lying around? Do you care about fuel economy? If you do, you would be buying a Ferrari FXX K, Porsche 918 RSR, or a Mclaren P1 GTR due to their hybrid powertrains and 25+-mpg fuel economy.

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport has a good ol’ gasoline burning engine and the lowest production numbers in a year out of any VW group company. The EPA tested one, and the results actually weren’t terrible.

You would expect a vehicle with 1,479 horsepower, 1,258 ft-lbs of torque, four turbos, and 16 cylinders to be absolutely appalling on gas and you are absolutely correct. Your expectation may be about 4 or 5 MPG but the Chiron Pur Sport achieves double-digits at 10.1. The chances you will actually get this mileage are quite low, but it’s great to know if you hyper-mile your hypercar, you’ll at least get 10 mpg. 0-60 in the Chiron Pur Sport happens in a blistering 2.1 seconds, the top speed is 268 miles per hour, and they’re all sold out.

Yes all 25 Pur Sports sold out to previous Bugatti owners in a matter of 15 minutes. That is quite quick for a mere car that is the price of a mega-mansion, sweet boat, and maybe even a share of  a private island. So, for all you billionaires reading this, ff you want to save the environment, go for a hybrid and skip the Bugatti.
