(By Tom Lohnes)- The Hyundai Veloster N is one of the best-driving new vehicles you can buy right now, and it’s going to stay that way. For the lesser. Veloster trims though, 2021 is the end of the line.
Due to extremely slow sales and low availability, the more expensive N actually outsold the Veloster in both 2019 and 2020. Hyundai has taken this into consideration, and axed the standard Veloster. With 2 engines, 3 transmissions, and 5 trims to choose from, 2021 might actually be the best time to buy a new Veloster because of the sheer choice you have. That is if you can find them in dealers, of course.
So, what will Hyundai replace the Veloster with? Probably a more conventional hatchback with 4 doors and a standard roofline compared to the sloping, coupe-like one the Veloster has. Rumors say that Hyundai might bring the i30 over from Europe, which is around the same size as the Veloster, just more practical and a bit more mundane looking.
If you’re looking at a new Veloster, your time is now. Prices start at $18,990, so if you’re looking for a cheap fun car, you might have a winner.
