The Mighty Car Mods RB-swapped Z-Car Is Alive! Check Out The Final Additions Here!

We’ve been watching the work that Mighty Car Mods have been putting into an imported-from-Japan Nissan Fairlady Z (Datsun 240Z to the Americans) and we’ve been impressed with the overall way this car has gone. We know that there’s been a lot of boost noises, JDM worship, and “maad” all over the place with a lot of their past builds, no question or argument. This Fairlady’s build, however, is pretty much the BangShift way of doing a Japanese car from what we see. If you haven’t been following along, here’s the basic rundown: due to Australian import laws that prohibit any kind of asbestos importation, the guys got this car shipped to them minus any running gear or brakes. To build the car up properly and get it road-legal in Australia, they decided to take a resto-mod approach, which meant that they swapped in an RB26 motor that’s more often found in a 1990s Nissan Skyline. From my own experience with an R32 GT-R, the 2.6L turbocharged mill is more than enough for the Z-car. Upgraded suspension parts, new brakes, a fuel system that’ll handle the RB’s thirst and more have been put onto the car, but in this video, today is the day that the key is twisted for the first time. Will there be smoke or will the Fairlady live again? Here’s a hint: for both questions, “yes” is the correct answer!

When I saw the tag line about an RB swap, I figured I’d be looking at a Mopar 440 in the old Datsun….
